As any major honors show nears, one notices a demand for the addition fresh award types to recognize overlooked contributions and satisfy the spirits of fans who have specialized interests.
My colleague has already made advocating for terror-themed awards. That would be fantastic. The same goes for strategy board titles, which is a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front just as with other blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and significant. This is the request: There should be an award type for logic-based games.
Organizing Gaming Categories
Categorizing art by genre defies precise measurement; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably spark debates concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that cinema institutions don’t do it. However, it represents a necessary evil in the world of video games, which are so diverse it's challenging to consider them as a single art form.
For the full spectrum of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, while allowing diverse titles to have a chance for representation, genre categories are essential.
Existing Game Classification System
Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature classifications covering Action, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, and Sports/Racing games. Collectively, these six categories actually cover many game types, allowing placement accommodating various experiences.
This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Examine these examples from recent excellent titles, each quite distinct: building puzzles of one title, the pulse-pounding block-matching from another release, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. Where could they possibly go among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.
Acknowledgment Issues
Many instances occur excellent brain-teasers published annually without proper recognition in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match classification types such as Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the extremely competitive independent game categories.
- An iconic brain-teaser wasn’t nominated for anything that year
- Another creative title received no nominations that year
- Popular arranging title received no acknowledgment in 2021
- Just some logic titles scraped into independent or mobile categories
Importance of Logic Titles
Frequently they represent small games, but the art in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Well-known matching games rank among most engaged experiences in the world continuing this trend for many years.
The legendary block-stacking game rivals popular creative games claiming status as most purchased experience; it’s also in the running for top gaming experience. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, while interacting with diverse game types.
Recommendation and Reasoning
Puzzle games wouldn’t have such difficulty. It would be easy to populate a field of five with fascinating, diverse, deserving games every year with ease — perhaps, with difficulty, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.
Restating the point, these include experiences lacking appropriate categories at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers operate at the challenging frontier interactive creation, developing some of essential manifestations within interactive entertainment. Just like movie stunt professionals, they merit acknowledgment. We shouldn't delay generations.
